Of all the places ASW travels to, which is the farthest? Marta D., a current 9th grader here at ASW, is one potential winner. She is moving over summer to Bogota, Columbia, a whopping 9 932 kilometres away from Warsaw.
She’s been here since 4 grade, with 9th grade signifying her 6th year at ASW. In an interview with Warriors News, she said that the thing she’ll miss the most are her friends — (“but not the food,” she added, straight-faced).
Something she is really looking forward to is “getting to be part of a new and different culture and improving my Spanish,” and when asked to look back, Marta shared that the highlight of her ASW career was getting to make new friends and learning about different cultures.
Her new school is the Colegio Gran Bretaña, a British School with students from 36 nationalities. The student to teacher ratio is smaller than here at ASW (6:1 vs 8:1). The students there have to wear uniforms, something that Marta isn’t looking forward, as she doesn’t like them. While it doesn’t have MYP, it does offer IB courses, so her 11th and 12th grade years will also be spent studying, similarly to what the upper grades went through towards the end of this year.
“I really, really enjoyed my time here,” she added at the end of the interview.
